Nov. 15, 2017 – The University of North Florida College Democrats release the follwoing statement regarding the disturbing events that have taken place this semester:

“We are deeply concerned and outraged with the intolerance on our campus. We strongly condemn the hateful and bigoted rhetoric that UNF has witnessed this past month alone. President Delaney’s leadership in light of these events has been encouraging, and we are glad he continuously reiterates that UNF fosters peace and acceptance. That being said, we hope that the administration upholds the recent suspension given to a student who wished to incite violence and division on our campus. The administration must, once and for all, set a precedent that clearly states the University of North Florida stands with minorities in the face of incitement and bigotry.  This goes beyond acting retroactively to threats on campus—we must increase diversity through curriculum, faculty hiring, and student government initiatives.  As a club, we will continue our efforts at UNF to ensure everyone has a right to a safe learning environment.”
